Formed in November 2008, the Chemical Valley Rollergirls is Charleston, West Virginia’s first competitive all female flat track roller derby league. In 2013, Chemical Valley became the first league in West Virginia to become WFTDA apprentices. A small league, Chemical Valley has grown from being the underdogs to the league to beat in the area.

SKATER OF THE MONTH!
Booty Smax (#005)
Let's say hello to her and get up and personal with her. Her real name is Rachel Estep. Here's some Q&As from Booty.
What is your position: Blocker
How long have you played?: A little over a year
Best derby moment?: My first jam for a real bout
What is/are your goal(s)?: To be the best derby player I can be.
Pre-bout ritual?: Spend time with my teammates. And eat!
What is your lucky charm or superstition?: My belt buckle my teammates gave me for my birthday. I freaking love it! My derby hero is Jackie Daniels. She always wears a belt buckle & jean shorts when she plays. I like to think it helps me channel her awesomeness.
What advice would you give to someone thinking about trying out roller derby or who is new to roller derby?: If you're thinking about doing it, do it. If you are new to roller derby, keep doing it & don't give up. Derby is difficult & frustrating at times. There is ALWAYS more to learn or improve on. Derby is also very time consuming. You really have to be committed to it. I treat derby like a job on the accountability level. It's great exercise, great self confidence builder, great way to make new awesome friends, and just... great!
